Junior Faculty Child Care Assistance Program
The Junior Faculty Child Care Assistance Program (JFCCAP) was designed to help junior faculty cope with the financial pressures they face while they are endeavoring to achieve tenure or continuing term.
Open to full-time assistant and associate professors in tenure-, non-tenure-, and Medical Center-lines, the program provides financial assistance for child care to families with children age 5 and under. Spouses or registered domestic partners must be working at least 30 hours per week, or be disabled, a full-time student, or looking for work (if married to or a partner of newly-hired faculty). This program is available to Stanford University benefits-eligible faculty only.
Awards are based on family adjusted gross income for those whose income does not exceed $174,999 per year. The amount awarded ranges from $5,000 to $20,000, based on one child 5 or younger. If a family has more than one child younger than 5, the total award is increased by $1,000. The awards are disbursed through reimbursements for child care expenses, which are processed four times per year. These salary supplements are taxable income.
The JFCCAP is not applicable once tenure or appointment to continuing term has been achieved.
